A typical nominal voltage for these batteries is around 3.6 or 3.7V, with a cut off voltage of 4.1 or 4.2V. To ensure the safety and longevity of your lithium ion batteries, always use the Li-ion mode of a smart charger when charging.

There are two main types of lithium ion batteries: high capacity and high discharge rate. High capacity cells are designed for electronics that don't require a high current draw but need a longer running time, such as flashlights or RC radios. Panasonic NCR18650B and Samsung 35E cells are ideal for these applications. On the other hand, high discharge rate cells typically have lower capacity but can discharge much faster, making them perfect for power tools and RC vehicles. Samsung 25R and Sony VTC4 cells are recommended for these scenarios.

It's worth noting that there are some 18650 cells with extremely high capacity that are sold on unreliable eCommerce websites like eBay. Be cautious of these products as current technology hasn't been able to surpass the energy density limit of lithium ion chemistry.
